我還記得當年這首歌一發布，整個樂壇都在傳，

雖然 Selena 在訪談中曾大方表示
這首歌描述的是多種形式的愛（甚至包括與父親的關係），
但那種對一段「毒性關係」感到噁心、想吐的厭煩感，
簡直是把那種糾纏不清的心境寫到了骨子裡。
這首歌的幕後陣容可謂「神仙打架」，
由金曲製造機 Benny Blanco 與 Stargate 操刀，
更找來了當時正紅的英國電音才女 Charli XCX 共同創作。
如果你仔細聽副歌裡那個帶著點沙啞、放浪不羈的合音，
沒錯，那正是 Charli XCX 本人的聲音，
她那種強烈的個人色彩為這首歌注入了一股「老娘沒在怕」的帥勁。

這是整首歌最神的神來之筆。
利用 "peace"（和平、平靜）與 "pieces"（碎片）的近音雙關，
諷刺對方離開的時候輕輕鬆鬆、問心無愧，
卻留下主角一個人在原地應付心碎的殘局。
這在台灣口吻來說，
就是「你拍拍屁股走人，留老娘一個在這邊收爛攤子」。
"Same Old Love" 的多重含義：
Selena 曾提到這首歌不僅是關於前男友，
也包含對身邊負面關係的總結。
歌詞中的 "That shit" 展現了一種極度的不耐煩，
這在當時那個「純情小公主」形象的
Selena 身上是非常大膽且真實的突破。
