Passion Pit 於 2012 年 所發佈的歌曲〈Take a Walk〉，
是他們第二張錄音室專輯
《Gossamer》的先行單曲（Lead Single）。
這首歌在當年可是獨立電音（Indie Electronica）的巔峰之作，
在 Billboard Alternative Songs 榜單一路衝到第 5 名。
聽這首歌的前奏，那種輕快、跳躍的合成器音色，
妳可能會以為這又是哪首在海邊開派對的無腦神曲，
但少年仔，代誌不是憨人想得那麼簡單，
這首歌的歌詞可是扎心得很。
主腦 Michael Angelakos 曾在訪談中提到，
這首歌的靈感來自於他家族的真實經歷，
特別是他的曾祖父輩。
這不是一首關於散步的歌，這是一首關於「美國夢碎」的敘事詩。
歌詞從一個移民者的視角出發，
寫到他在賓州車站賣康乃馨、辛苦接家人來美國、
遇到金融風暴、投資失敗、甚至連退休金都賠光的窘境。
這種「旋律越陽光、歌詞越絕望」的強烈反差，
正是 Passion Pit 最正港的招牌魅力。
Bridge 段落裡那種面對稅金、帳單與維持虛榮生活的壓力，
最後只能卑微地說出「我只是太膽小，不敢承認自己需要幫忙」，
這簡直是把所有在生活中掙扎的男人的心聲都唱出來了。
這首歌在 2012 年大紅大紫，
甚至被選入《勁爆美國職籃 13》（NBA 2K13）的原聲帶，
但在那跳躍的節奏背後，其實隱藏著一個家庭面對經濟崩潰時，
唯一的發洩方式就是「出去走走」的無奈。

"The ladder"：
隱喻「社會階梯」或「成功階梯」。
主角能看到晉升的機會，
但現實的重擔（稅金、家庭、債務）卻讓他動彈不得。
"Socialists and all their damn taxes"：
反映了當時美國中產階級對於稅制與社會福利政策的抱怨。
這首歌在 2012 年（大選年）推出時，
這種對於經濟與政策的「碎碎念」特別引起共鳴。
"Lifestyle to front"：
這句話寫得非常有台灣味，就是在說「充門面」。
為了維持社會地位或外人的眼光，
明明沒錢也要裝出一副過得很好的樣子。
"Take a walk"：
這不是悠閒的散步。
這是一種避開爭吵、避開崩潰邊緣的「逃避機制」。
當主角在家裡面對岳母、孩子與債務壓力快要爆炸時，
他唯一能做的就是出門走走，冷靜一下。
