老編還記得當時大家對 Meghan 的
印象還停留在那種 50、60 年代復古 Doo-wop 風格的〈All About That Bass〉，
沒想到她這次竟然甩開糖果色外殼，
換上了帶有 90 年代末到 2000 年代初那種
Britney Spears 或 Destiny's Child 影子的
人氣 R&B 舞曲風格。
這首歌的誕生背景其實很有趣，
當時 Epic Records 的老闆 L.A. Reid 聽完 Meghan 準備好的新專輯後，
直接打槍說：「妳少了一首真正的主打歌。」
Meghan 聽完後火大得要命，
當場就跟製作人 Ricky Reed 衝進錄音室，帶著那股「你敢挑戰老娘？」的怒氣寫下了這首〈NO〉。結果這首歌不但成功打臉老闆，還直接衝上 Billboard Hot 100 的第 3 名，成為她職業生涯中節奏感最強、態度最硬的作品之一。
歌詞的核心概念非常直白，就是在夜店或社交場合中，
當一個女生根本不想理會那些自以為是的男人時，最帥氣的應對方式。
Meghan 在受訪時曾說，這是一首為了女性寫的「拒絕國歌」，
鼓勵女孩們在面對不舒服的搭訕時，可以理直氣壯地說不。
那句洗腦的「Nah to the ah to the no, no, no」配上
沉重的鼓點與銅管樂聲，
