1. "We're a broken people living under loaded gun"
這句詞具象化了人類在核武時代（Nuclear Age）的集體焦慮。
所謂「子彈上膛的槍口」，
暗喻著只要有權力者按下那個紅色按鈕，
人類文明就會瞬間灰飛煙滅。
Linkin Park 透過「破碎（Broken）」一詞，
點出了在這種隨時可能被毀滅的壓力下，
人的心智與靈魂早已不再完整，處於一種集體的創傷與不安之中。
2. "Fires of a thousand suns"
這是整首歌的核心意象，
直接引用自羅伯特·奧本海默形容 1945 年「三位一體」核試驗時的場景。
根據印度聖經《薄伽梵歌》，
