Billy Idol 於 1981 年所發佈的歌曲……
這首充滿新浪潮與非主流活力的經典之作，
最早其實是在 1979 年由他所屬的音樂團體 Generation X 錄製並發行，
不過當時在英國老家的商業表現相當慘淡。
後來隊伍散夥，
他隻身前往美國發展個人演唱生涯，
將這首心頭好翻新混音，
收錄在 1981 年的首張迷你專輯《Don't Stop》當中。
直到 1983 年，
隨著幾首強打在美洲大紅大紫，
唱片公司趁熱打鐵再度重新發行這首單曲，
一舉奪下告示牌榜外單曲榜（Bubbling Under Hot 100）的第二名，
雖然差了臨門一腳沒擠進熱門百大，
卻成了他演藝歷程中最具代表性的招牌神曲。
這首歌的創作靈感來源非常奇特，
那是在 1978 年，
他前往日本東京的一家迪斯可舞廳巡迴兼考察，
結果站在舞池邊一看，
發現台下的亞洲青年竟然不是面對面交際，
而是每個人都對著牆上亮晃晃的鏡面、
看著自己的倒影在瘋狂扭動。
這種帶有強烈孤寂感卻又無比自賞的怪異景象，
深深震撼了這位叛逆浪子，
於是便將這種「對鏡獨舞」的畫面轉化為音符。
在視覺與影像剛起步的八零年代初期，
這首作品的音樂錄影帶在 MTV 電視台獲得全天候的強力輪播。
他那標誌性的金色刺蝟頭、
招牌的歪嘴壞笑，
再搭配揉合了華麗搖滾的摩登編曲，
精準抓住了少男少女的眼球。
表面上是在唱著找不到舞伴的寂寞，
