"Dear Jon, hello, goodbye"
這裡巧妙地玩了一個西洋文化梗「Dear John letter」。
在英語中，"Dear John letter" 專指女性寫給丈夫或男友的絕交/分手信。
有趣的是，歌手本人的名字就是 Jon（Jonathan），
這種「雙關」讓這句歌詞聽起來既辛辣又充滿自嘲，
彷彿在說：
「我真的收到了那封傳說中的分手信，而且我就是那個主角 Jon。」
"I can't believe my own lyin' eyes"
這句話是反諷。
通常人們會說「Don't believe your lying eyes」來自我欺騙，
試圖否認眼前不堪的真相。
Jon 在這裡故意說「我不敢相信我這對正在對我說謊的眼睛」，
